Jackson County Shooting Police Officer Injured, Suspect Fatally Shot

A suspect was killed and a police officer was hurt in Jackson County on Wednesday.

At 7 p.m., the Michigan State Police First District said on X (formerly Twitter) that the accident happened during a chase with a car and that an officer was hurt but should be okay.

There was a gunfight between cops and the suspect at some point during the incident. The suspect has died. “One police officer was hurt, but they will live,” the story said.

A person who did not want to be named shared a video on social media of the suspect’s dark-colored SUV or minivan speeding down a street while being chased by several police cars with sirens and lights flashing.

There will be an investigation by detectives from the MSP Special Investigation Section in Lansing.

“This is a fresh investigation, additional information to follow as it becomes available,” a district post said.
