Race Day Live (Jacksonville) – A year-long drug bust operation has been completed successfully, with the arrest of many drug traffickers with cartel links.

T.K. Waters, the Sheriff of Jacksonville, declared Thursday afternoon that Operation Jacob’s Ladder had been successfully completed.

The operation was launched to disrupt drug distribution rings in Jacksonville and across the state, as well as in Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Mexico.

Jacob’s Ladder began in November 2023 and was led by JSO’s big case narcotics section, with assistance from the DEA, FHP, and FDLE. It targeted drug distributors in Jacksonville.

Authorities distributed fentanyl, cocaine, and meth obtained from the Gulf Cartel on the Texas-Mexico border.

The operation resulted in the arrests of Esteban Martinez, Damian Rojas, Amelio Mack, Walter Bassett, Daniel Garcia, Christopher Jones, Romondo Hicks, Grady Hill, Jemani Dunn-Jennings, and Eduardo Seijas.

“Martinez, Garcia, and Rojas were drug traffickers with direct cartel connections who frequently transported narcotics from Texas to Jacksonville.” Mack was a crook who often accepted these illegal drug shipments in our city. “Bassett is a documented member of the Genovese crime family, with ties to both South Florida and New England,” Waters stated.

Law enforcement agencies seized 2.3 kilograms of Fentanyl, 74.5 kilos of cocaine, 74.35 pounds of marijuana, 731.1 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), more than $212,000, 8 rifles, 5 handguns, and two trafficking cars, as well as a tractor-trailer used for trafficking.
