Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels is starting a new chapter in his career as a coach.
After medically retiring from college football in December 2023 due to multiple concussions, Daniels, 24, has secured a position as a graduate assistant at the University of West Georgia.
During his time at Georgia, Daniels made an impact as a starter, going undefeated with a record of 7-0 and throwing for 17 touchdowns.
Despite injuries sidelining him, he played a crucial role in Georgia’s win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in 2020 and was even part of the Heisman Trophy conversation at the beginning of the 2021 season.
Following stints at West Virginia and Rice, Daniels decided to pursue his passion for coaching, a path he had expressed interest in even before retiring from playing. Now, he has the opportunity to start his coaching journey under the guidance of head coach Joel Taylor’s staff at West Georgia.
“I’m excited to get into coaching, that’s for sure,” Daniels expressed to ESPN’s Pete Thamel in December 2023. “I loved playing. I always knew one day I’d coach. I didn’t think it would come this soon. But one day, I knew that’s what I going to be doing.”
