Race Day Live (Toledo, OH) – Macy’s has announced plans to shut down 150 stores nationwide, with several of those closures affecting locations in Ohio.
The organization revealed the impending closures in a statement on January 9, highlighting that these shutdowns are integral to its ambitious new strategy, which was introduced in 2024. In the coming three years, 150 underperforming stores are set to close, with 66 locations already confirmed for the shutdown.
Macy’s announced that the closures are part of a strategy aimed at achieving “sustainable, profitable sales growth” for the retailer. The company is making significant investments in its 350 selected Macy’s locations through 2026.

Among the 66 closures, two locations in Ohio are affected, specifically the retail stores situated at 2727 Fairfield Commons Blvd. in Beavercreek and 5001 Monroe St. in Toledo. Currently, there are no central Ohio sites included in this latest wave of shutdowns.
The company has yet to provide a timeline for the shutdown of confirmed locations or the announcement of additional planned closures. Macy’s, based in New York, operates a total of 521 stores across the country, as stated on the company’s website.
