YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio— A guy who had previously been sanctioned in federal court for a parole violation for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a teenager has now been charged with sexual battery and gross sexual imposition.
A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Brandon Turjonis on Thursday on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of gross sexual imposition, which are third and fourth-degree felonies.
Turjonis is accused of not only having a sexual relationship with the juvenile but also violating a no-contact order by frequently contacting the teen from jail, according to court records.
Turjonis admitted to breaching the no-contact order and his parole and was sentenced to six months in federal prison, according to court records. However, that punishment was put on hold until the most recent charges were brought.
Investigators suspect Turjonis began contact with the girl despite warnings from his parole officer.
Turjonis was originally convicted on a firearms charge. Police apprehended him in 2020 following a standoff on Youngstown’s South Side. He was sentenced to slightly under four years in federal prison, but he earned credit for time served previous to his sentencing and was eventually freed on parole.
