Someone stabbed a subway rider in the back as he got off a train at a Manhattan stop on Friday night. The person was a stranger.

Around 8:45 p.m., the 29-year-old victim got off a L train going to Brooklyn at the First Ave. subway stop near 14th St. in the East Village. Suddenly, another passenger stuck a knife in his back, according to police and witnesses who spoke to the Daily News.

A security guard watching the station saw someone running up the stairs to the street and the victim looking confused and in pain. Later, police said that the person who might have attacked was “an Asian man with a bag.”

The guard, whose name was Samba, said, “Someone walked up behind him and stabbed him in the back.” “He had no idea it would happen.”

The man yelled, “Someone hit me!” Then we saw all the blood.

The person was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is now in stable condition.

Police were hoping that looking at the closed-circuit video cameras at the station would help them figure out who the attacker was.
