Man’s Body Discovered in Freezer at Raleigh’s Food Lion Grocery Store

A man’s body was discovered in a freezer at a grocery store in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Tuesday, according to authorities.

Officers arrived on the scene around 7:05 a.m., after the man’s coworkers discovered his dead in a Food Lion’s supply freezer, according to a news release from the Raleigh Police Department given to USA TODAY.

According to WFMY, the man suffered a medical issue Monday night before passing away inside the freezer.

Food Lion Issues Statement Regarding Body Found in Freezer

“Food Lion is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our associate,” a representative told USA TODAY. “We express our deepest condolences to the associate’s family and friends.”

Police are investigating the event as a death inquiry. Food Lion indicated that the company is collaborating with local authorities during the inquiry.

“As always, the safety and well-being of customers and associates are daily priorities for Food Lion, and we are committed to ensuring a safe place to work and shop,” a spokeswoman told me. “We are providing resources to support our associates during this difficult time.”
