March 2025 Social Security Alert: Last Payment of the Month Is on Its Way!

The last Social Security payment for March is just around the corner. Your payment date depends on a few factors, which we’ll explain below.

Thanks to the recent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase, Social Security beneficiaries and those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) should see a boost in their monthly payments.

If you’re unsure when your payment will arrive, this guide will help.

Keep reading to learn when you can expect your March payment and how the Social Security Administration (SSA) determines your payment date. We’ll also cover other government benefit payment dates.

When Will You Get Your March Social Security Payment?

Curious about which day your check will arrive? Here’s the Social Security and SSDI payment schedule for March:

How Your Payment Date Is Determined?

March 2025 Social Security Alert: Last Payment of the Month Is on Its Way!

Social Security payments are usually sent out on the second Wednesday of each month. The next two payments are then distributed on the following two Wednesdays.

Your birthdate determines which Wednesday you’ll get paid. There’s one key exception, which we’ll cover next.

Exceptions for Other Government Benefits

If you’ve been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and SSI, your payment date isn’t based on your birthdate.

Instead, payments are sent on the same date each month with a few exceptions.

  • Social Security payments are sent on the 3rd of each month.
  • SSI payments are sent on the 1st of each month.
  • If the 1st or 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday, you’ll receive your payment early. For example, since March 3 last year was on a weekend, recipients received their payments on March 1 instead.

Social Security and SSDI payments follow the same schedule, so you can expect both to arrive together.

What to Do if Your Social Security Check Is Missing?

If your check doesn’t arrive on time, the SSA advises waiting three additional mailing days before contacting them. After that, you can call the national toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213.

The SSA recommends calling in the morning, later in the week, or later in the month to avoid long wait times.

If you can’t reach someone through the national line, you can use the SSA’s office locator to find a local office for assistance.
