MIAMI-DADE, Fla. — A woman has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing a man inside a northwest Miami-Dade smoke shop during an argument over the quality of drugs she purchased, authorities said.
The suspect, 32-year-old Desma Shaiann Flanders of North Miami, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder, according to Miami-Dade jail records.
Deadly Confrontation at Early Morning Smoke Shop
The shooting occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday at a smoke shop located off Northwest 27th Avenue near Northwest 45th Street.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded after a ShotSpotter alert detected five gunshots in the area. When they arrived, officers found the victim, 50-year-old Abdul S. Rolle, lying on the floor of the business with multiple gunshot wounds.
Rolle was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Argument Over Drug Quality Led to Shooting
According to the arrest report, Flanders had visited the smoke shop to purchase narcotics. After making the purchase, she and Rolle began arguing over the quality of the drugs.
The report states that Flanders left the shop, then pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at the front door, one of which struck Rolle inside the store.
“The incident was captured on surveillance footage from a nearby business,” investigators wrote in the report.
Surveillance Video and Arrest
Authorities said video evidence confirmed Flanders as the shooter. When questioned after her arrest, Flanders denied the allegations, according to police.
