Model Fatally Shot While Waiting for Uber to Daughter’s Birthday Party

An Instagram model in Costa Rica was fatally murdered while on her way to her eldest daughter’s birthday party over the weekend, according to local news outlets.

Yuliana Castillo Sánchez, 29, was shot while waiting on a street in Granadilla, a district in Costa Rica’s San José province, on Saturday, Sept. 28, according to local news outlets La Nación, CRHoy, and La Teja, citing police, preliminary reports, and the victim’s mother’s testimony.

Castiollo, who has over 13,000 Instagram followers, was the mother of an eight-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, according to La Teja and CRHoy.

According to the victim’s mother, Yesenia Sánchez, she was preparing to get into an Uber to go to her daughter’s birthday celebration when the shooting occurred.

According to preliminary reports and the Judicial Investigation Agency, Sánchez was arguing with two males on a motorcycle when one of them allegedly shot her and fled the area.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.

Yuliana is now recognized as a kind and devoted mother to her children.

“As a mother, she was unconditional. Everything she did was to offer her children a better future and not rely on anyone, so that no one would criticize her and she could get ahead on her own and give the best to her children,” an unnamed relative told La Teja, translating from Spanish.

“I believe that’s what she did; she gave them her all,” the relative explained.

Authorities did not reveal the motivation for the shooting, and no arrests had been made at the time of publication.
