In contrast, 31% felt he had given the issue the “right amount” of attention.
Since his presidency began in January, Trump has stirred controversy with his tariff policies, which have disrupted long-standing geopolitical relationships due to his view of unfair trade practices.
The survey also showed that 55% of respondents think Trump is overemphasizing tariffs, while 38% believe he is giving the right amount of focus to the issue.
Regarding the economy, 52% of those surveyed disapproved of Trump’s handling, while 48% approved.
Trump’s economic message was a key factor in winning over swing voters during the general election, with many hoping he would reduce grocery costs and control inflation.
However, his ongoing trade conflicts may have long-term consequences for US consumers.
