NAUGATUCK, Conn. — Police in Naugatuck said that a woman was charged with animal abuse after their dog was found to be seriously neglected.

On Sunday, Oct. 20, Jolissa Nozier was arrested and charged with noise complaints about a dog barking on Carroll Street.

People in the area told the cops that the woman hadn’t been home in 24 hours.

The police called the woman on the phone. Nozier went back home to check on the dog and meet the police officers. The woman told the cops that she had owned the dog since it was a puppy.

The police looked at the dog and asked Animal Control for help. The dog was turned over to them and taken to VCA Shoreline for treatment, where it was found to have been badly neglected.

Rocky, the poodle, is now in the care of Poodle Rescue Connecticut.

There will be a court date for Nozier in Waterbury on November 20.
