Nevada Residents Urged to Get Real ID Before May 7, 2025, Deadline to Avoid Travel Issues!

3 min read

Race Day Live  Nevada residents need to act fast if they haven’t gotten their Real ID yet. The deadline is May 7, 2025, and without it, travelers won’t be able to board domestic flights or enter federal buildings unless they have another approved ID.

Many people are still confused about the process and the required documents.

To understand what it takes, Good Morning Las Vegas reporter Shakeria Hawkins went to the DMV to apply for her Real ID.

The process seemed easy, but according to DMV spokesperson Hailey Foster, mistakes can cause delays.

One big issue is missing documents. If someone has changed their name due to marriage, divorce, or adoption, they need to bring legal proof of the name change.

Another common mistake is bringing photocopies instead of original documents. Also, many assume a military ID counts as a Real ID, but that’s not true.

To Get a Real ID without Problems, Applicants Should Bring:

  • One Official Proof of Identity (like a Passport or Birth Certificate)
  • A Social Security Card or Another Valid Proof of Social Security Number
  • Two Documents Proving Residency (such as A Utility Bill or Bank Statement)

“If you Don’t Have Your Social Security Card, You Can Use a Printed Pay Stub or W-2 Form,” Foster said.

Hawkins Made Sure to Bring All Her Documents, Including Her Passport, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, and Proof of Residency. After a Short Wait and A Quick Photo, She Was All Set.

Las Vegas Resident Sean Concepcion Got His Real ID Two Years Ago to Avoid Last-Minute Stress. “i Just Figured I’d Do It Early. The process Was Simple, Just Like Renewing My Driver’s License,” He Said.

“last time I Renewed My License, I Was Asked if I Wanted a Real ID, but I Didn’t Have the Right Documents, so I Had to Wait,” She Said.

Since She Has a Passport, She Can Still Fly, but She Has to Carry It Every Time. until She Gets Her Real ID, That’s Her only Option.

With the Deadline Getting Closer, Nevada Residents Are Encouraged to Check Their Documents and Apply Early to Avoid Any Last-Minute Hassle.
