North Carolina Girl Scouts Camps Secure $500,000 for Awesome Improvements!

Girl Scouts in the North Carolina Coastal Pines region will see major upgrades at their camps this summer, thanks to over $500,000 in funding from donors.

Officials announced that the funds will improve camp facilities, create new activity spaces, and expand outdoor opportunities at all four camps in the region, including Camp Hardee in Beaufort County and Camp Mu-Sha-Ni in Onslow County.

Lisa M.K. Jones, CEO of Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, said, “At Camp Mushani, we’re planning to update cabins, improve the waterfront area, and make upgrades to some existing buildings.”

A large grant will also fund the construction of an outdoor amphitheater at Camp Mary Atkinson in Johnston County.

Abbie Smith, a Girl Scout Junior from Troop 206 in Carteret County, expressed her excitement, saying, “

The best part about being a Girl Scout is helping out the community. I love teaching other girls, and as you get older, it becomes a really rewarding experience.”
