Wednesday morning was notably colder after a strong cold front passed over North Texas overnight, causing a First Alert Weather Day.
Parts of North Texas were in the 30s shortly after sunrise, with the majority of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the 40s.
However, behind the front, it is a windy morning with winds ranging from 15 to 20 mph. The gusty northerly winds made the temperatures feel even cooler, with some portions of DFW in the 30s.
The north/northwest breeze persists on Wednesday, with plenty of sunlight. The peak temperature is expected to be 62 degrees, the coldest since March 26 in North Texas, when it reached 60 degrees.
The cold air hangs around for Wednesday night, with low temperatures dropping into the 30s and low 40s, continuing the cool mornings.
The cold air will dissipate quickly as temperatures return to the upper 70s.
There will be a little more cloud cover early next week as moisture returns ahead of a midweek cold front that will bring Thanksgiving Thursday.
As of this writing, Thanksgiving appears to be dry, with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s.
