Paramount Ends DEI Policies in Response to Trump Executive Order!

Paramount Global has informed its employees that it will end several diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

This decision follows an executive order from former President Donald Trump, which bans DEI practices in the federal government and calls for investigations into private companies’ DEI programs.

A memo sent to employees on Wednesday outlined the changes, citing the executive order, Supreme Court rulings, and federal mandates as reasons for the policy shift.

No More Numerical Goals for Hiring

One of the significant changes is that Paramount will no longer set or use aspirational numerical goals related to race, ethnicity, sex, or gender when hiring.

The company also said it would stop collecting these demographic details from U.S. job applicants on forms and career pages, except where legally required.

Commitment to Inclusivity and Collaboration

Despite these changes, Paramount emphasized that inclusivity and collaboration remain core values. Co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins stated in the memo, “To be the best storytellers and to continue to drive success, we must have a highly talented, dedicated, and creative workforce that reflects the perspectives and experiences of our many different audiences.”

They also noted that Paramount would continue to evaluate its policies and seek talent from diverse backgrounds.

It has also promoted initiatives like a supplier diversity program and Content for Change, aimed at transforming storytelling around racial equity and mental health.
