Race Day Live (Northumberland County, PA) – A man from Northumberland County confessed to fatally shooting his girlfriend of seven years on Friday afternoon, claiming he thought he was in imminent danger of being killed and eaten, according to officials.

Jared Heath Wolfe, 46, from Milton, faced arraignment on Saturday and was taken to the Northumberland County Jail without bail, charged with the murder of Jane White.

A 46-year-old woman was found unresponsive and bleeding on Court Street, near South 11th Street, and was pronounced dead on Friday, according to Sunbury police.

Officers arrived at 1:43 p.m. and quickly took Wolfe into custody at his brother Adam’s home on Fifth Street.

Adam Wolfe contacted emergency services to inform them that his brother had come home armed and claimed to have just shot his girlfriend, according to police reports.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jared Wolfe shared his account of the shooting with investigators during an interview.

He took White from their home in Milton to Sunbury to meet a male friend. They visited the apartment of a friend’s brother and smoked what he believed to be marijuana.

Using a paranormal meter, he checked the energy levels in a statue, and when the results showed a high reading, he was filled with fear. He believed that one of the brothers was attempting to cover his mouth with a white rag that had something on it to cause him harm.

Believing that White and the brothers intended to harm him, he became frantic and dashed out of the house to retrieve his firearm from his car. A live round was loaded in the 9mm handgun when White opened the passenger side door.

He discharged a firearm, striking her in the chest, convinced he was acting in self-defense, yet he acknowledged that he did not observe any weapon in her hand.

When questioned by authorities about his decision not to assist White and instead head to his brother’s, he stated: “I was too messed up.”

Police reported that they found the suspected murder weapon while executing search warrants, along with a significant quantity of suspected synthetic marijuana and several smoking devices in the brothers’ apartment.
