Green Bay, Wisconsin – A 59-year-old Pulaski man was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation for videotaping a 17-year-old girl while she was showering.
According to Wisconsin Circuit Court documents, Ruben Baez-Garcia’s criminal case has been resolved following a Brown County judge’s sentencing decision. Baez-Garcia received credit for four days in detention and pleaded no contest on November 19, 2024.
Baez-Garcia will be granted Huber privileges while in jail. He will also be required to pass a COMPAS Evaluation and continue to work full-time.
The event occurred at a Pulaski residence and was reported to authorities on December 1, 2023.
Baez-Garcia was believed to know the 17-year-old girl, who told police she was having a shower. She observed the light in the bathroom dimming and a shadow appearing across the shower curtain. When she looked up, she reportedly noticed a cell phone camera pointing down at her.
According to the criminal complaint, she attempted to dial the phone and ended up recognizing Baez-Garcia as the person holding it.
Baez-Garcia apologized to the girl many times. The woman captured a video of herself addressing Baez-Garcia about the event. When Baez-Garcia was asked, “Why would you do that?” He reportedly replied, “I am attracted to you.”
The lawsuit recounts an earlier instance in which the victim discovered a cell phone recording her as she was going to the bathroom.
