Good morning everyone. We have a busy start to the day as that cold front responsible for severe weather yesterday across parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, has now made it to the East Coast.
A long line of heavy showers and thunderstorms, with strong to severe storms embedded within, stretches from North Carolina, and South Carolina, down into Georgia, and across north Florida.
Look for strong winds, heavy rain, and rumbles of thunder over the next several hours. However, higher levels of shear up the ante for North and South Carolina.
For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch across central & eastern North Carolina and central & eastern South Carolina until 1 pm at its easternmost point.
We’ll have the risk of damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of some isolated tornadoes.
Our line of thunderstorms will be gone by mid to late afternoon, then clearing will ensue tonight with chilly & breezy conditions. Look for lows in the 40-45 degree range.
