Social Security April Payment Dates Confirmed – Millions to Receive Benefits Next Week

In the United States, Social Security offers financial assistance through retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to eligible individuals and their families.

Managed by the Social Security Administration (SSA), these benefits are designed to help those facing reduced income or unemployment.

For April 2025, Social Security payments will be issued on the following dates based on recipients’ birthdays:

  • April 9: For individuals born between the 1st and 10th of any month
  • April 16: For individuals born between the 11th and 20th
  • April 23: For individuals born between the 21st and 31st

In addition, Supplemental Security Income (SSI)—which supports people with disabilities and older adults with little or no income—will also be distributed.

To qualify for Social Security retirement benefits, individuals must be at least 62 years old and have worked and paid Social Security taxes for a minimum of 10 years. Disability benefit eligibility is based on work history prior to becoming disabled.

Monthly retirement benefit amounts in 2025 depend on the age at which individuals choose to retire:

  • Age 62: Up to $2,831 per month
  • Full retirement age: Up to $4,018 per month
  • Age 70: Up to $5,108 per month

Citizens can apply for retirement benefits online. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and those applying on behalf of someone under 18 should choose the appropriate application option.
