Social Security offices across the U.S. are set to close as part of budget cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Out of the 47 offices expected to shut down, the only one listed in Florida is the Melbourne office, which is scheduled to close on May 16.
The closures do not include the Port St. Lucie or Vero Beach locations.
The Social Security Administration operates two offices on the Treasure Coast:
- 6810 S. U.S. 1, Port St. Lucie
- 724 20th St., Vero Beach
In Brevard County, the Social Security office on Dairy Road, which houses the Office of Hearings Operations, is scheduled to close due to federal budget cuts led by Elon Musk’s DOGE.
This office handles hearings and appeals for those seeking benefits.
However, the two Social Security offices that provide direct services in Brevard County — located at 1715 W. NASA Blvd. in Melbourne and 310 Canaveral Groves Blvd. in Cocoa — will remain open and are not on the DOGE closure list.
