In this week’s softball scene in South Jersey, two standout teams are making waves: Bordentown and Ocean City High School.
Bordentown’s softball squad has been on fire lately, winning six consecutive games after a bit of a shaky start with just one win in their first three games.
Their recent victories include impressive wins against Hightstown, Delran, Northern Burlington, and Old Bridge. Leading the charge for the Scotties is Kaci Benton, who’s been on a tear with an impressive 10 runs scored, 13 RBIs, and three home runs.
Katelin Hoppe has also been a force to be reckoned with, boasting a 2.90 ERA and an impressive 59 strikeouts in 50 and 2/3 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Ocean City High School’s softball team bounced back in a big way after a rocky start, losing both games at the Ron Vinick Tournament in Millville and falling to a 1-2 record. Since then, they’ve gone on an impressive seven-game winning streak.
Leading the offensive charge for Ocean City is Brooke Douglas, hitting a solid .424 with 10 runs scored and a whopping 17 RBIs, including seven extra-base hits and three home runs. Jessica Mooney has also been a standout player, boasting an impressive batting average of .581 with 13 runs scored and 13 RBIs.
