If you do not receive your payment on the scheduled payday, the Social Security Administration suggests that you wait three mailing days. Some seniors’ monthly cheques may have been stolen, received late, or even misplaced.
It is also advisable to call the bank or financial entity in charge of delivering your Social Security payment. They may not always be able to issue payments on time or may encounter technological difficulties.
After waiting three postal days for Social Security funds
According to the Social Security Administration, you must report a late, lost, or stolen payment by calling 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778.
Another option for recipients who did not receive their monthly payment on time is to visit their local office. In this instance, an agent may be able to determine why your payment was late, missing, or stolen.
After reviewing your case, they will determine whether or not the payments need to be replaced. If it is still due, we will replace it as soon as possible. Some people may lose their Social Security benefits because they broke the regulations.
Missing payments on September 18 or 25
If your payment is not issued on schedule on September 18 or 25, and you are eligible for one of them, you can proceed as you did with the September 11 payment. Contact SSA toll-free at 1-800-772-1213.
Make certain you have not violated any Social Security rules. For example, if you are imprisoned for more than 30 consecutive days, your Social Security benefits will be suspended. It makes no difference whether it is a prison, jail, or other correctional facility.
If you are found guilty, the Administration is not required by law to pay retirement benefits to someone who is incarcerated at a public cost in connection with a criminal prosecution.
