An individual has been caught after a shooting in South L.A. that hurt two police officers, according to the police.
Police in Los Angeles stated that they were called to reports of a theft near 92nd Street and Central Avenue Friday night just after 9 p.m.
When police arrived on the scene and saw the suspect, they shot the suspect. Police did not say what exactly caused the shooting.
At 10 p.m., Sky5 was in the sky and saw paramedics calling for two police officers.
LAPD said that one officer was taken to the hospital with what looked like a gunshot wound to the right side of their body. Because the second cop might have been shot or hit in the hand, he or she was taken to the hospital.
Gil Leyvas of KTLA said that he saw the cop with the hand wound being taken out on his own, and the other officer being taken out on a gurney. Both officers were awake and talking to paramedics, though.
The LAPD confirmed in a report at 1:15 a.m. Saturday that they had found the male suspect hiding in a parked car with the help of K9 officers after he had run westbound on 92nd.
The suspect was found to have hurt his leg, according to the LAPD. A police source told Carlos Herrera of KTLA 5 that the suspect is “known to law enforcement,” but they did not give his name.
Officials also said that both cops were treated at a nearby hospital for their injuries and are now in stable condition.
No more information was given right away, and the scene was still busy at 6 a.m. Saturday.
