Tennessee Teen Nabbed by Marshals After 100 MPH Chase and FedEx Shooting Incident

Race Day Live (Dallas, TX) – A Tennessee teenager is accused of firing a shot at a FedEx driver during a frightening road rage episode last month, subsequently evading law enforcement after a high-speed chase reaching 100 mph, according to authorities this week.

Ultimately, the 17-year-old troublemaker was unable to evade the US Marshals and was captured while hiding beneath his bed in Lexington on Wednesday, according to a statement from the federal law enforcement agency.

In a twist of fate, his father now finds himself in handcuffs as well.

The marshals reported that the father of the teenager, Ricky Maness, Jr., 44, provided misleading information regarding his son’s whereabouts during the investigation. “Eventually, the necessity was discovered concealed beneath a bed.”

Just before 5:30 p.m. on December 15, an incident started to develop in Jackson when a teenager behind the wheel of a pickup truck came close to colliding with a FedEx truck, subsequently trailing the delivery vehicle.

A frustrated teenager confronted the driver and reportedly discharged a firearm, narrowly avoiding the FedEx worker’s head, which led to a 911 call, according to the marshals.

When law enforcement arrived, the teenager took off onto Interstate 40, sparking a high-speed pursuit that exceeded 100 mph, ultimately managing to escape.

Authorities reported that they initiated an inquiry and successfully identified the minor, whose identity remains confidential due to his age, leading to the arrest of both him and his father this week.

A young boy was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center, while his father remained in custody at the Henderson County Detention Center awaiting arraignment.

A significant arrest was executed by the US Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, a collaborative unit from Western Tennessee comprising federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.

Since 2021, the task force has apprehended approximately 3,000 individuals involved in violent crimes and sexual offenses.
