Race Day Live (Fort Worth, TX) – A Texas substitute teacher has faced criticism for requesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) police to search his school because his children “don’t even speak English.”
Fort Worth Independent School District officials initiated an investigation after the substitute teacher responded to a social media post by ICE providing an update on arrests on January 23.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the instructor, who was not publicly identified but used the X login @Hookem232, requested that agents “come to Fort Worth, TX to Northside High School.”
“I have many students who don’t even speak English and they are in 10th-11th grade. They have to communicate through their iPhone translator with me. The [US Department of Education] should totally overhaul our school system in Texas too,” the post added.
Roxanne Martinez, the head of the school board, attempted to calm parents about whether ICE would target the district.
“Please be assured that we are taking this situation very seriously and are committed to resolving it as quickly as possible,” she told the crowd.

Two-thirds of Fort Worth’s public school students are Hispanic, and more than one-third are studying English as a second language.
Meanwhile, officials have not identified the substitute teacher who created the post, but have stated that the instructor will not be teaching while the posts are being examined.
Interim Superintendent Karen Molinar also announced that the district would be “supporting all families.”
