Three People Were Killed and Eight Were Hurt in a Shooting in Mississippi After a Homecoming Game

The local sheriff said that three people were killed and eight others were hurt by gunfire early Saturday morning at a party in Mississippi to celebrate a school’s football win.

The Associated Press reported that at least two shooters were involved if killed three people. Two of them were 19 years old and one was 25. It said that the hurt people had been flown to a hospital.

Willie March, the sheriff of Holmes County, told CNN that the killing happened early Saturday morning on a trail outside of Lexington. Marsh said that the police got a call at 12:30 a.m. ET and were there in less than 15 minutes.

He said they saw a wild scene. “Trouble. There were a lot of people, so there was a lot of chaos. People were running, crying, and sitting down.

The Gun Violence Archive says that there have been at least 422 mass killings in the US this year. Like CNN, they say that a mass shooting hurts or kills four or more people, not counting the shooter.

The AP said that between 200 and 300 people came to the party, which came after a football game at the Holmes County Consolidated School’s homecoming event.

When the game was over after three or four hours, he said, “People went out to the trail ride and I guess had a party because they won.” “It had nothing to do with school at all.” “They didn’t do anything to put it on or take part in it.”

Marsh said that the football players weren’t there, as far as he knew, and it wasn’t clear why they were shot.

March said, “We’re asking questions, but everyone says they didn’t see anything happen or a fight.” “We’re looking for a reason ourselves.”

Joe Johnson, a co-owner of the land where the party was happening, told CNN station WAPT that the party would end soon after the shots started.

He told WAPT, “We still had 30 minutes to go, and I was about to say something like, ‘It won’t be long,’ when I heard the shots.”

Johnson said the shots came from more than one gun and sounded like a machine gun.

He said that guns had been taken away before when events were held at the field because of security, but this time they got through.

His words hurt me because they said, “So much innocent blood is being shed.” “I am a minister by calling, and I’d like to be able to talk to our young people and tell them to love each other.”

Johnson said that one of the people hurt was his nephew and that his kids were also there: “Thank God they didn’t get shot up.”

This is the second weekend in a row that there has been a major shooting after homecoming events.

A shooting happened near Tennessee State University in Nashville on October 12 after the school’s homecoming party. One man was killed and nine others were hurt. Police said the celebration was “kind of a sidebar” and not a reflection on the university.
