Tragic Wrong-Way Crash Claims Life of NYC Groom-to-Be Just One Day Before Wedding, Family Reveals

Washington Heights, Manhattan – A Washington Heights man died in a wrong-way crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway. The family told PIX11 News that Saturday was planned to marry the following day.

Kirk Walker, 38, had only one day till his wedding in New Jersey, according to his relatives. A spokeswoman for the wedding venue told PIX11 that Walker’s wedding had been canceled due to the incident.

Walker was murdered when a wrong-way truck driver collided with his car on the Henry Hudson Parkway around 2:20 a.m., according to the NYPD.

Rob McLaurin, 40, was also killed in the crash. Police were unable to confirm the relationship between the two guys.

A man driving a Chevrolet Silverado and a Toyota Rav4 was going southbound in the northbound lanes when the truck collided with Walker’s Dodge Challenger, authorities said. The vehicle also struck an Audi S3 driven by a 27-year-old male. According to police, the Toyota was hit by debris from the vehicle.

According to police, the truck caught fire and the 21-year-old passenger exited the vehicle.

The truck passenger, Audi driver, and 28-year-old male Audi passenger were all transported to a hospital and are likely to live.

The truck driver escaped, according to authorities.

Police made no arrests on Sunday.
