Palos Heights, IL – Trinity Christian College, a long-standing private institution serving students for more than six decades, has announced that it will close after the 2025–2026 academic year due to persistent financial challenges and dwindling enrollment.
The college confirmed the closure in a statement released on November 4, noting that classes, housing, and meal services will continue through the end of the Spring 2026 semester.
Financial Struggles and Declining Enrollment
According to the college’s FAQ page, Trinity’s decision reflects a trend among small private colleges nationwide. The institution cited “fast-evolving economic and cultural realities,” rising operating costs, pandemic-related financial losses, and a significant drop in student enrollment and donor contributions as reasons behind its closure.
Trinity Christian College first opened its doors in 1959, and while it has maintained accreditation and strong graduate outcomes, the administration said there was no sustainable path forward.
Once the college officially closes, its buildings and land will be sold to pay off outstanding debts.
Academic Legacy and Student Details
The college currently enrolls 985 students with an average class size of 36. Trinity offers over 70 majors and minors and boasts a 98% graduate placement rate, meaning nearly all graduates find employment in their chosen fields.
Spring Commencement is scheduled for May 8, 2026, marking the final graduation ceremony before closure. Despite the end of operations, all degrees will remain valid, as Trinity is fully accredited.
Transition Support for Current Students
Trinity Christian College has set up partnerships with several teach-out institutions to ensure students can transfer credits and complete their degrees with minimal disruption.
Advising sessions will be held for academic planning, financial aid, and transfer support, and students can attend academic forums to discuss next steps.
The college’s transfer team is assisting students directly and can be contacted at questions@trnty.edu with the subject line “Transfer Team Question.”
Diploma and Degree Verification After Closure
Students seeking replacement diplomas can email diplomas@trnty.edu before the college closes. After closure, Calvin University will serve as the record holder for Trinity Christian College and handle all future diploma and degree verification requests.
Verification will also remain available through the National Student Clearinghouse.

Students wishing to compete after transferring to other institutions can work with their current Trinity coaches and the athletic departments at their new schools.
Leadership Response
Acting President Jeanine Mozie acknowledged that the decision is “difficult to hear” for students, staff, and alumni. Board Chair Kenneth Dryfhout, a Trinity alumnus, expressed sorrow over the closure, reflecting on his family’s deep connection to the college.
“I grieve this ending,” Dryfhout said. “My parents attended Trinity and were married here on campus. This decision was not taken lightly.”
A Legacy That Will Be Remembered
While Trinity Christian College prepares to close its doors, its more than six decades of Christian education, community building, and academic excellence will continue to resonate with alumni and supporters across the nation.
