Two Infants Died in Separate Events in Pittsburgh, Authorities Said

Police said two babies died in separate incidents in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

At 8:30 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1100 block of Duffield Street in Stanton Heights for an unconscious 4-month-old infant boy.

At 12:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Hazlett Street in Northview Heights for an unresponsive 3-month-old infant girl.

First responders attempted CPR and other life-saving measures, and both babies were transported to Children’s Hospital.

Police reported that both babies were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner will report the reason and manner of death.

Detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Department are conducting an investigation. It’s unclear whether anyone will face prosecution at this time.
