Time flies when stores are closing down.
Less than a month ago, on February 25th, Joann Stores announced that they would be closing all 800 of their locations across the country, including those in Illinois.
This news came shortly after a previous statement from the company that said only 500 of their 800 stores would shut down.
As expected, this upset many fabric and craft shoppers across America. To make matters worse, Joann’s handling of the closing process has left many customers even more frustrated.
The biggest issue came when Joann announced that they would no longer accept gift cards, even ones that had already been purchased.
Scammers Are Taking Advantage
To make things worse, scammers have started to take advantage of the situation.
Joann Fabrics has warned customers that any website claiming to let you place an online order with Joann is fraudulent.
To verify if a site is legitimate, check the web address. If it’s not Joann.com, it’s not Joann Fabrics.
Joann’s official website has confirmed that all online purchases have been disabled since Wednesday, March 5th. A notice on the site reads:
“As of Wednesday, March 5th, purchases on Joann.com have been disabled. There are no other authorized Joann shopping websites. Please see your local store for all your crafting needs. Inventory varies by location.”
Closing Sale Warning
GoodHousekeeping.com also shared an important detail about Joann’s closing sales.
The liquidator managing Joann’s asset sale reportedly raised prices across the board before applying a 20-30% discount.
As a result, some “sale” prices are higher than the original regular prices.
