Winter Storm Warning Issued for Southern Alabama: Snowfall and Travel Impacts Expected!

A cold weather advisory is in place for all of central Alabama and some areas in northeastern Alabama. This advisory will remain active until 9 AM on Wednesday.

During this time, wind chills are expected to drop into single digits or low teens in most areas. This type of extreme cold can be harmful, so make sure to dress warmly in layers and check on friends and family members to ensure their safety.

There have been updates to the winter weather alerts since the last report. A winter storm warning has been issued for areas along and south of a line that includes counties like Choctaw, Clarke, Wilcox, Lowndes, Montgomery, Macon, and Lee, as well as all southern counties beyond this line.

These areas are likely to see the biggest effects of the storm, with snowfall expected to range from 1 to 3 inches.

The warning, represented by the pink-shaded region on the map, is active from 6 AM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory is now in effect for several other counties, including Sumter, Greene, Marengo, Hale, Bibb, Dallas, Perry, Autauga, Elmore, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Clay, Randolph, and Chambers.

In these areas, travel issues are possible, but snowfall is expected to stay below 1 inch. This advisory is represented by the purple-shaded region and will also remain active from 6 AM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday.
