A 49-year-old woman named Carmen Julia Carreon Segovia was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for smuggling drugs into the United States with her teenage daughter.
In January 2024, Segovia was caught trying to bring 6 kilograms of cocaine across the border with her 16-year-old daughter in the car.
Border patrol agents found eight bundles of cocaine hidden in the front fender of her vehicle. The drugs were worth around $90,000.
