Woman Who Initially Blamed Home Invasion for Boyfriend’s Death Now Charged with His Murder

Pleasanton, CA – Authorities in California have arrested 27-year-old Kennedy Stith, who was initially believed to be the victim of a home invasion that resulted in the death of her boyfriend, Edevion White, 32. Stith has now been charged with his murder, following a months-long investigation by Pleasanton police.

On May 1, 2023, White was found dead at an apartment located on the 5700 block of Owens Drive. Stith had initially told authorities that two masked intruders broke into their apartment and fatally stabbed her boyfriend. However, after a year of investigation, Pleasanton detectives determined that her story was fabricated, leading to her arrest on September 12.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Stith with murder on Friday, claiming that she fatally stabbed White in the chest at their shared residence. In a statement, police accused Stith of creating the false home invasion story to cover up her involvement in White’s death. The investigation also uncovered allegations that Stith had been manipulative and abusive toward White, reportedly forcing him to sell drugs to pay their bills.

Pleasanton Police expressed condolences to White’s family and emphasized their dedication to bringing justice in the case. “The City of Pleasanton extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Edevion White, and we are working closely with them during this challenging period,” the department said. “We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during this investigation, and we remain committed to ensuring the safety of our community.”

Stith is currently being held at Santa Rita Jail without bail.
