16-Year-Old Victim of Colorado Shooting Honored for Kindness and Friendship

A Pennsylvania man is incarcerated for allegedly killing his mother, who was bedridden and dependent on an oxygen machine.

According to court documents, 40-year-old Chad Walburn was charged by prosecutors this week with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his mother, Phyllis Elaine Walburn, 63, in October. According to her obituary, the older Walburn passed away on October 31 at a hospital in Erie “after many years of health issues.” But police considered her death to be a homicide.

A probable cause arrest affidavit that the Erie Times-News was able to get states that on October 23, the Erie Police Department received a report regarding a man who was refusing to leave a residence. Officers discovered Chad Walburn, the unwanted visitor, inside his mother’s house. She was found unconscious and drenched in her bed by police, according to reports. Her neck was discolored, and it seemed like someone had removed her oxygen line from her nose. Police said that the equipment was unplugged and turned off.

Chad Walburn allegedly acknowledged removing his mother’s oxygen tube, shutting it off, and removing the plug after Miranda. According to the complaint, he then showered her with water from other containers, including a small garbage can. Chad Walburn allegedly stated that his mother needs to die when asked why he did this. After being taken to the hospital by paramedics, she passed away eight days later.

According to the Times-News, the Erie County Coroner declared her death to be a homicide. In the days following the event, Walburn was charged with aggravated assault. According to the newspaper, however, the coroner’s subsequent inquiry revealed that respiratory failure brought on by the deliberate removal of oxygen was the cause of death.

On Friday, Walburn was charged with murder and arraigned.

Erie police Deputy Chief Rick Lorah told local ABC/Fox affiliate WJET, “There were a lot of moving parts to this investigation so we just wanted to make sure that everything aligned with obviously the coroner’s report and our detectives’ investigation.” “At this time, the official coroner’s report is out, listing it as a homicide, and those charges were obviously filed after consulting with the district attorney’s office.”

After a 16-year-old girl was shot dead during what appeared to be a home invasion, residents of Aurora, Colorado, are devastated. It took place in an apartment building close to Havana Street and East Jewell Avenue on Tuesday before dawn.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled, and as of late Tuesday evening, they had not been apprehended. After being brought to the hospital, the victim passed away.

The teenager’s name is Audrina, according to those close to the victim, and she made an impression on everyone she came into contact with.

According to her uncle, he was putting a lot of effort into finishing high school early.

Following the shooting, Audrina’s friend Layiah said of her: “She isn’t the type you come across more than once.” Layiah described Audrina as sweet and sympathetic. She is the most amazing friend that would sacrifice anything for you in order to show her devotion and love.

“She’s the type of friend that would risk anything and everything just to stay by your side,” said Layiah. “She’s really powerful. Despite the innumerable times the universe wronged her, she persisted with a heart full of kindness, empathy, and compassion. Anyone who knows Audrina would concur that she is the most sincere, compassionate, and understanding girl I have ever encountered.

Among those who hope the authorities can solve the crime is a man named Christopher who lives nearby where the murder occurred. He claims that on Tuesday morning, he heard a gunshot and turned to see two individuals leaving the residence.

He remarked, “The sun wasn’t up yet and they were just running,” alluding to the culprits whom the police are currently pursuing.

The suspects have only been described as wearing bulky, light brown winter coats thus far.

The motivation is still being sought by investigators. According to Aurora police, there is currently no cause to suspect that the crime is connected to gang activity in Venezuela. What connection there may have been between the suspects and the person or people inside the unit has not been established.

Who else was inside the apartment during the alleged home invasion has not been made clear by the police. They claimed that before the shot or rounds were fired, there had been some kind of altercation.

Contact the Aurora authorities Department or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers if you have any information that you believe could aid authorities in their investigation.
