Connecticut Officials Warn of ‘High’ Forest Fire Danger Across the State

1 min read

Conn.– NEW HAVEN, Connecticut A “high” forest fire hazard rating was given by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) of Connecticut on Thursday. This rating applies to the entire state.

Residents are reminded by state officials to comply with local rules surrounding open fires, dispose of hot charcoal in a responsible manner, and exhaust all smoking materials completely.

If you are burning within one hundred feet of a grassland or woodland, you are not allowed to do so on days when the forest fire danger rating is high, very high, or extreme. This is true even if you have a permit to burn.

Please dial 9-1-1 as soon as possible if you come across a brush fire.
