87-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed in Echo Park; Suspect at Large in Los Angeles

Race Day Live (Los Angeles, CA) – In the Echo Park district of Los Angeles, investigators say that a car struck an elderly woman and then fled the scene of the accident, resulting in the woman’s death.

On Monday evening, at approximately 6:50 p.m., this collision was reported. At the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Allesandro Street, the woman, who was 87 years old, was walking in a marked crosswalk in the direction of the westbound direction when the driver of a dark-colored Ford Transit van struck her.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver of the van, who was traveling northbound on Allesandro at the time of the collision, fled the area without pausing to check on the wellbeing of the woman or to talk with the authorities.

It was determined that the woman had passed away at the site. Her identity has not been made public at this time.
