Race Day Live (Fayetteville, NC) – A man from North Carolina has been arrested and charged with the murder of a young woman who went missing earlier this month.

Tyrell Siermons, 30, faces one count of first-degree murder, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Heather Williams, 25, was last seen alive on January 4 in Ring camera footage, which showed her leaving her home in a light-colored vehicle.

On January 10, the victim’s body was discovered in a forested area next to a clearing near the intersection of Newark Avenue and State Avenue in the city’s northwestern section.

Siermons was detained and charged with the woman’s murder on Thursday, according to a brief press release issued by police.

Details concerning the development or broader study are still lacking. According to the announcement, detectives assisted the department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team in making the arrest.

However, the victim’s family is filling in some of the details.

The victim’s sister recently spoke with Raleigh-based NBC affiliate WRAL about an incident with a person who answered a number on Williams’ phone log — a number that reportedly phoned, or which called, her the night she last left her house.

“He said he met her on Facebook, either through Facebook Dating or Messenger, he couldn’t remember which,” Mary Williams said in an interview. “He said he hung out with her one night, but he wasn’t sure if it was Saturday night.”

Mary Williams had previously told the TV station about her sister’s life, long before the concluding incidents and fatal moments.

Heather Williams survived a vehicle accident in 2015, which left her with cognitive impairment, a restricted vocabulary, and a noticeable limp, according to her sister. Despite her challenges, the surviving sister stated that her brother “worked really hard, you know, just having a normal life and doing normal things that 25-year-olds do.”

Investigators were aware of at least some of these flaws and concerns when the victim first went missing.

The victim’s sister stated that she followed up with the individual she contacted and that the person on the other end wrote back to confirm that he did, in fact, pick her up in his car on the night in question.

The defendant is now being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

According to law enforcement, the inquiry is active and ongoing.
