33-Year-Old Man Out on Bail After Alleged Assault on Pregnant Woman in Bloomington

Race Day Live (Bloomington, CA) –  A 33-year-old man has been released on bail following accusations of assaulting a pregnant woman and threatening her with a knife over the weekend in the Bloomington region of San Bernardino County.

Authorities arrived at the scene following a 911 alert just before 10 a.m. on Sunday about a woman who was reportedly attacked in the 17700 block of Randall Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the victim was expecting and identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jose Vargas Zambrano.

The Sheriff’s Department reported that during a dispute, Zambrano assaulted her multiple times, pushed her into a bedroom, restrained her, and choked her.

Authorities reported that Zambrano brandished a knife and menaced the victim to prevent her from exiting the residence, but the unnamed victim ultimately managed to flee and sought assistance.

The Sheriff’s Department reported, “Medical personnel assessed her for injuries sustained during the assault at the scene.”

Officers gained entry into the residence after discovering that Zambrano had disarmed himself and took him into custody.

He was arrested on allegations of domestic violence resulting in injuries, false imprisonment, assault with the potential for serious bodily harm, and displaying a weapon.

Zambrano was detained with a bail set at $50,000, which he subsequently posted, leading to his release from custody, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
