Race Day Live (Adair County, MO) –  An Adair County man has been charged in connection with an alleged domestic disturbance that occurred early Saturday morning.

Tyron Vanarsdale, 50, and his girlfriend, Rebecca Smith, 43, were arrested after leaving Campbellsville’s Tiki Bar and arriving at a home in Columbia. The two then began to dispute, and it became physical.

According to the citation, Smith asked Vanarsdale not to go before shifting into reverse and drugging her under the truck, injuring her legs and ankles.

According to KSP, Smith told troopers at the scene that she and Vanarsdale were bickering at the Tiki Bar, which had spread to her mother’s house. The last thing she remembered was lying on the ground, unable to walk, after Vanarsdale left the house.

According to the citation, she told KSP that Vanarsdale had been physical with her before.

Troopers at the site noted in the citation that Smith’s ankles and feet had apparent lacerations, as well as “severe swelling” to her ankle, which she ascribed to the truck drugging her on the side.

During an interview, Vanarsdale verified that their altercation began at the Tiki Bar and went to Smith’s mother’s house, according to KSP.

Smith told authorities that he told Smith to get out of the vehicle, but she refused, prompting him to acknowledge that he “slung” her out and attempted to leave the house.

Vanarsdale stated she began pounding on the vehicle’s window as he went into reverse. He then said he opened the passenger door, knocking her down.

According to Vanarsdale, he asked Smith if she needed an ambulance, but she cursed and screamed at him before leaving.

Troopers detained Vanarsdale and lodged him into the Adair County Detention Center. He was charged with:

  • Second-degree assault

  • First-degree wanton endangerment

  • Leaving the scene of an accident—failure to render aid or assistance

He’s being held on a $10,000 cash bond, according to court records.
