Race Day Live Actress Selena Gomez is facing major backlash after breaking down on social media over the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Gomez became emotional, saying, “All my people are getting attacked—the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry.
I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything. I promise.”
While some fans sympathized with her, many others, especially conservative voices, criticized her reaction.
British journalist Piers Morgan posted on X (formerly Twitter), calling it “a new level of absurd celebrity narcissism” for crying over the deportation of what he called “illegal immigrant criminals.”
Another critic, Savanah Hernandez, wrote, “Selena Gomez is a BILLIONAIRE who is surrounded by security, has zero idea of how dangerous the country has become due to illegal immigration, doesn’t care enough about women or children to know they’ve been getting raped and murdered at the hands of ‘her people,’ and is now crying from the comfort of her mansion.”
Charlie Kirk, founder of TPUSA, questioned why Gomez had not spoken about other crises related to the southern border.
He wrote, “Aren’t you American? Where was the sobbing over the 100,000 Americans dead from fentanyl poisoning?
Where were these tears for the 340,000 children trafficked over our border? Why wasn’t there a breakdown for Rachel Morin, Laken Riley, or other victims?”
The criticism extended beyond social media, with many questioning Gomez’s awareness of broader issues.
Some pointed out that she lives in a California mansion, far removed from the struggles of everyday Americans affected by immigration policies.
Tom Homan, former acting director of ICE under the Trump administration, addressed the situation, stating, “I don’t think we arrested any families. We’ve arrested public safety and national security threats, bottom line.”
He emphasized that ICE’s operations were focused on criminals and gang members who posed a danger to the country.
“We’re going to do this operation without apology,” Homan said. “It is all for the good of this nation. And we’re gonna keep going. No apologies. We’re moving forward.”

Despite her emotional plea, Gomez did not get the reaction she might have hoped for. Instead, her post became a focal point for debates about immigration, celebrity activism, and political opinions on border security.
The U.S. government continues to focus on arresting individuals with criminal backgrounds, including gang members and those considered threats to national security.
While immigration remains a divisive issue, public figures like Gomez stepping into the conversation often find themselves caught in heated political debates.
As immigration policies continue to evolve, it remains essential to stay informed about what is happening and to engage in meaningful discussions about the future of border security and immigrant rights.
