Michigan Senate Files Lawsuit Against House Over Pending Legislation!

2 min read

Race Day Live LANSING, MI – Michigan Senate Democrats have taken legal action against the state’s House of Representatives.

They are suing because House Speaker Matt Hall has not sent nine bills, passed last year, to Governor Gretchen Whitmer for approval.

Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks says the delay is unacceptable and claims Hall is not fulfilling his responsibilities. She insists the governor needs to sign these bills into law.

Hall, however, argues that there is no set deadline for sending the bills. He says his office is carefully reviewing them before taking further action. But Brinks disagrees, stating that Hall’s reasoning is not accurate.

Hall’s team defends the delay, saying they are conducting a detailed legal review.

They also argue that the Senate must act on certain House bills related to protecting tipped wages. Brinks says discussions on those bills are already happening.

The lawsuit highlights ongoing political tensions in Michigan. Now, the courts may have to step in and decide whether Hall must send the bills to the governor or if his review process is justified.
