CHICAGO – A suspect was shot on Tuesday afternoon after allegedly trying to rob a woman at gunpoint on Chicago’s West Side.
The attempted robbery took place around 2:31 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Congress Parkway.
What Happened?
According to police, a 68-year-old woman was walking when an unknown suspect approached her.
The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded her belongings.
A Bystander Intervened
As the robbery was happening, a 38-year-old man saw what was going on and decided to step in.
He fought with the suspect, trying to stop the crime.
Suspect Shot During Struggle
During the fight, the suspect was shot in the left leg. It is unclear who fired the shot.
The two victims—the woman and the man who intervened—were not injured.
