The Denver Broncos have made a strategic decision regarding their defensive lineup, choosing not to re-sign restricted free-agent defensive lineman Jonathan Harris.
This move grants Harris the status of an unrestricted free agent, giving him the freedom to explore potential opportunities with other NFL teams, starting from March 13.
Throughout the previous season, the 27-year-old Harris played a significant role for the Broncos, featuring in 17 games, earning five starts, and making notable contributions such as securing one sack and accumulating a total of 43 combined tackles.
The Broncos’ choice not to tender Harris likely stems from financial considerations, as tendering him would have incurred a cost approaching $3 million.
While the Broncos still retain the option to bring Harris back into their lineup, they now face competition from other teams in the league vying for his talents. Denver’s current financial constraints, particularly related to salary cap limitations, might restrict its capacity to offer Harris a substantial contract.

Harris, having served over four years as a rotational depth player for the Broncos, boasts a career that includes 73 tackles, with his singular sack achievement occurring in a standout performance against the Houston Texans in 2023.
