An Atlanta murder suspect appears to have believed police would not wake him up to arrest him.
Clayton County officers were summoned to a Riverdale house on Monday, where they discovered Matt Washington Jr. “asleep” in bed.
Officers said someone called 911 to report that Washington had drawn a gun on his family and attempted to pistol-whip his mother. When they arrived, a woman informed them that it had never happened.
When they wanted to talk with other persons in the house, Washington was discovered hiding under the sheets of his bed, fully dressed and pretending to be asleep.
Because he was acting strangely, they checked his name in the system and discovered he had been wanted by Atlanta police for homicide since September 2.
Police believe the 911 call was a tip to send them to the house and locate Washington.
Channel 2 Action News is investigating the homicide for which Washington was wanted.
He is currently being imprisoned at the Fulton County Jail on murder charges.
