How to get up to $967 a month from the federal government in 2025 – SSI funds

Anyone can find themselves without enough cash to cover their needs. Americans with low incomes and few resources who meet one of the three main standards are eligible for SSI benefits. These benefits are paid for by the federal government.

These payments will be made every month to people who are at least 65 years old, have a condition, or are blind. Because of this, having little or no means and a low income is not enough.

With the 2025 COLA raise that Social Security announced, SSI payments will go up

All people who get Social Security or SSI will get a 2.5% raise thanks to the 2025 COLA rise. But for retirees and people who get SSDI, this boost won’t start until January 2025. For people who get Supplemental Security Income, it won’t start until December 31, 2024.

Changes to the highest amounts of Supplemental Security Income after the COLA:

• People who are eligible for the most money can get up to $967
• Married pairs who are eligible for the most money can get up to $1,450
• Important people who are eligible for the most money can get up to $484

Remember that until December 30, 2024, the numbers are $943, $1,415, and $472. Find out if you can get this benefit in 2025 if you have a disability, are blind, have a low income, or have few or no resources. You must also meet other standards.

SSI extra standards and how to apply for them

Besides the other requirements, you must be a citizen or national of the United States. If a non-citizen fits into one of the categories given by DHS (Department of Homeland Security), they may also be able to get Supplemental Security Income.

Also, don’t forget that you have to live in one of the 50 States. For those who don’t want to live in DC, you can also live in the Northern Mariana Islands. The citizens who aren’t there should also meet other standards.

People who get SSI can’t be out of the 50 United States, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the District of Columbia for 30 days in a row or the whole month. You won’t be able to apply if you are in jail or prison. There may be other special conditions, and you have to file.
