Two Employees and Customer Stabbed at Columbia Fast Food Restaurant, Police Report

2 min read

Three people were stabbed early Saturday morning at a fast food business. The Columbia Police Department says a man has been charged with multiple crimes.

In a news release late Saturday night, the cops said the attack took place at the Hardee’s at 5801 U.S. 321 in Fairfield Road. That is the area between I-20 Exit 70 and North Main Street.

A press statement says that just before 8 a.m., police were called to Hardee’s because of a fight over an emergency call. The cops said that the injuries to three people were not life-threatening.

The statement says that two of the victims worked at Hardee’s and the third was a customer. Police say that one of the victims is still in the hospital. It was not possible to get more details about the victim’s condition.

Police say they think Ira Grissett, 42, “went to the restaurant to confront a male employee about a personal conflict.”

Nothing was known about what caused the attack, and it wasn’t clear how all three of the victims got engaged.

Attempting to kill someone, two counts of high-level attack and battery, and having a weapon while committing a violent crime were all charged against Grissett, according to the news release.

Jail records show that Grissett is still being held in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center without a bond having been set.

Richland County court records show that the person from Columbia is due back in court on Dec. 13 after a bond hearing.

The knife that was used in the attack was found by police, who said it was an isolated event.
