A kid died, another was hospitalized, and a third was detained after a physical confrontation turned into a shooting inside a Ralphs grocery store in Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the altercation between many guys began around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Ralphs shop in L.A.’s Sun Valley district, which is located in a business center at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Roscoe Boulevards.

According to reports, the brawl began when three suspects approached the two victims with pipe wrenches and attacked them.

During the altercation, one of the teenagers being attacked pulled out a revolver in self-defense and fired, striking two other individuals.

One of the kids who was shot later died at a nearby hospital after being transported there by an unknown individual. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified him as Angelo Cedillo, 19, of Granada Hills.

The second victim, who had been shot in the leg, was transported to a hospital in stable condition. According to reports, the victim, an 18-year-old male, was with the gunman and not one of the assailants.

Police arrested the shooter, Jorge Armenta, 18, soon before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Armenta was brought into the Van Nuys Jail on a $2 million bail.

Crime scene tape was spotted shutting off the store early Wednesday morning as detectives came to begin their investigation. The store was open by 7:30 a.m.

Anyone with additional information on the shooting can contact the LAPD Operations Valley Bureau (818-374-9550), or call 1-877-527-3247 after hours and on weekends.
