Gemini Live is Expected to Engage in Conversations With You About Youtube Content

A new beta indicates that Google is focusing on a more conversational experience with Gemini during your downtime.

Strings of code in the beta version of the Google app (v15.46.31.ve.arm64) hint at a new experience between Gemini Live and YouTube. AssembleDebug (Android Authority) discovered that Google may use a “conversation mode” for the AI model when watching movies. A piece of code specifically indicates this feature’s collaboration with YouTube, but there’s more to it.

The tipster was able to create a small section of the functionality for the test, demonstrating what users may see. The graphic supplied indicates that Gemini’s overlay may soon include a “Ask about this video” chip. Speculation says that this will allow consumers to engage in an ongoing dialog with Gemini regarding the video’s content.

Users can reportedly ask about what’s on the video, with the option to provide follow-up questions.

It is unclear whether customers can speak express their queries or if typing is the only option. Despite the fact that little further is discoverable, another piece of code advises users to increase the volume of their device “to hear Gemini.”

While this function appears to be a natural progression from Circle to Search, Gemini Live’s purported feature is similar to YouTube’s. A year ago, YouTube launched an AI experiment with Premium members, allowing them to try a conversational experience. The test contained two features: AI-powered comment summaries and a new “Ask” button for videos.

The latter was highlighted with a Gemini-style star next to the Share and Like buttons beneath a video. When testers interacted, they were presented with three query suggestions: “Summarize this video,” “Tell me more about this topic,” and “Recommend Related Content.”

While it appears that Gemini Live will lack the summary feature, it will still allow users to ask questions about topics that have aroused their interest. Furthermore, users may continue to “Ask” YouTube about the video they were watching, which was similar to asking a follow-up question.

Aside from its official iOS app introduction, Gemini Live was speculated to provide file management capabilities via Google Drive.
