Heavy Frost and Freeze Warnings Issued for Parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia

1 min read

As has been predicted and talked about over the last 24 hours, the Southeast will have another very cold night. Clouds and wind no longer protect places that were safe last night, though, so our frost and freeze risk has grown.

Radiative cooling will help in parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia where the skies are clear and the winds are light. In some parts of north Florida and Alabama, the weather will stay the same as it was last night. Overnight tonight, temperatures are likely to drop to just below or close to freezing.

Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a frost warning for parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and north Florida that are central to near the coast. In northern Alabama, there are freeze warnings and frost alerts all around that watch-box.

Protect late-season crops, plants, and animals by taking the right steps. This could happen again tomorrow night or early Monday morning.
